Deborah Grantham was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania on February 29th, 1956. Her parents were John and Grace Grantham. Deborah is the youngest of three and the only girl. Raised in the Baptist church, all the Grantham children took part in the church choir. Deborah eventually went on to sing R&B as a young adult but then heard the call from God to sing gospel music only. In obedience to that call Deborah prayerfully formed the ministry now known as, In His Service (ihs), and began seeking opportunities and venues where she could perform. Deborah says, “I sing every chance I get because I love the Lord and I know that pleases Him.”
My parents, the late John and Grace Grantham, raised me and my two brothers in a christian home. We attended church every Sunday and learned to love the Lord. My mother had the voice of an angel and sang solos in the Senior Choir regularly for more than 45 years. Her singing taught me to love music, especially God's music! She still serves as my inspiration today. I was also inspired by my late brother, Dr. Robert Grantham to never give up and to strive for excellence. I dedicate “He’s Preparing Me" to him.
"Second only to my salvation, my greatest gift from God was giving birth to and being mother to my beautiful daughter, Melanie Joy! She is the light of my life and through loving her I've learned what unconditional love truly is."
In 2010, Deborah auditioned for Actors, Models and Talent for Christ (AMTC) organization, and was chosen to be showcased at their annual week long SHINE event in Orlando, Florida in July 2011. At the SHINE event, Deborah caught the eye of several music producers and was later interviewed for potential work in the future. “It was an honor to be chosen as one of only about 250 performers out of 1000 to be interviewed, and a very humbling experience. I learned valuable lessons while attending the workshops there and was inspired to begin to share my work with the world as soon as I could. I made it my mission to have my first single “Wade in the Water” released as soon as I got home,” says Deborah. In 2017 Deborah's first full CD entitled, You're All I Need, was released followed by three singles from 2020 to 2023. They are : Psalm 61:1-3, Breathe in Me, and God of Mercy, respectively. Also in the summer of 2023 we celebrated the release of Magnificent Lord and Psalm 46:10. To God Be The Glory!
Deborah is a member of First Baptist Church of Crestmont in Pennsylvania. The Rev. Dr. Jerome F. Coleman is the Pastor.
